MAINTENANCE OF COMMON RIGHT OF WAYS WITHIN KINNOULL STATION

Grading

All metal ROWs in A, B and C will be graded at least once a year.

Culverts

Culverts will be checked once every month from May to August and every three months outside this period and cleared as required.

Slips

Slips on to the road will be removed as soon as possible using a local contractor.

Future sealing

As funds permit the ROW roads within Kinnoull subdivision will be sealed starting with the steeper sections.

Additional sealing

Owners within Kinnoull will have the right to seal sections of the ROW to prevent dust but this will be at their own discretion and cost.

Marker Posts

Plastic Slim-Pro edge markets are placed on the outbends for increased safety and visibility at night and in bad weather conditions and will be maintained as necessary.

Bunds on Outside Edges

Many of the roads at Kinnoull have a ½ metre high bunds on the outside edge as a safety measure. Also where there is a bund the road is formed sloping towards the inside bank so that the water is controlled and also as an added safety measure. These bunds will be maintained as necessary.

Spraying of Gorse

Gorse or other vegetation encroaching on the road will be sprayed annually if necessary.

Road Maintenance Register

Any work on the roads will be recorded in a Road Maintenance Register, which will be open for inspection by KERA members and Wellington City Council.

MAINTENANCE OF BRIDGE OVER THE KARORI STREAM

This is a steel reinforced concrete bridge and the maintenance required on this structure is minimal.

Annual Inspection

The Secretary of KERA or their representative will carry out an annual inspection of the bridge structure on the 31st of March each year.

The inspection will include checking that:

  1. there are no cracks in the concrete abutments.
  2. there is no slumping of the gabion baskets.
  3. there is no under mining through scouring of the gabion baskets or the concrete abutment.
  4. the seal on the bridge remains in a serviceable condition.
  5. the rails on either side of the bridge are fit for purpose.

Upon completion of inspection the following form will be completed and signed and filed in the Bridge Maintenance Register which will be open for inspection by KERA members, Wellington City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.

If any concerns are noted for items a, b or c, a civil engineer will be immediately engaged and an engineer's report obtained and acted upon as soon as practical.
